ouch, that doesn’t hurt… but it was awkward.

So… things only happen to Lynn and I when we are together and no one else is around. It happens at drive thrus (tales for another entry) and other shopping experiences so why would this time be any different?! Lynn came with me to the Halloween spirit store to get a lesson in wound creation from the resident FX artist. Everything about the lesson was so normal it was bordering on an “everyday interaction” minus the demon contacts, evil make up and the cross cut into the forehead Right as we were wrapping up, as he was giving us the final details he gave us this wonderful tip… ” I like to add KY ” or something like that because honestly I blacked out as he rubbed lube on my finely crafted glass wound. As Lynn and I went to the cash register she urgently found a hankie out of my purse and I wiped off the KY addition. Immediately after we left the store she handed me the hand sanitizer, because she’s good like that.

My wound is blue because of the zombie effect. Many who are dressing for work are freshly dead with blood and gore but I’ve been decomposing for some time… so I’m a nice shade of blue-white.

a sneak sneak peak.

So… work has been very very busy and because of such my hobbies and personal crafting ventures have come to a slow crawl. Also every spare moment I have has been going to my Halloween costume. Here’s the break down so far… I had the dress before hand so Lynn and I spent a weekend distressing it. Last Monday a letterman jacket I won on Ebay arrived so this weekend Lynn spent this weekend working on my make up and distressing the jacket to match the dress. The make up turned out great for first timers!!! We did have some trouble with the fake wounds so we’ll be spending next weekend at the Halloween store getting painting tips from a resident make up artist that offered his services. More photos to come…

test… test… 123…

sneak peak.

I am lucky enough to work for a company that LOVES and celebrates Halloween. Everyone is encouraged to dress up, kiddies can come and trick or treat at 3 and there is a tons of prizes. We dress up by department. There are prizes for best department theme, best treat, best individually decorated cube and best costume. Lynn and I started to work on my costume for this year’s theme but unfortunately I can’t show / say much, just a sneak peak, because with so much at stake I can’t chance anybody finding out outside my department… I’m being dramatic but I take this very serious… we must win this year!! :)

it’s that time of year…

no not Christmas (that would be Fred’s holiday) - IT’S 3 weeks until HALLOWEEN! Okay, I admit… I have a weakness for the holiday. Who doesn’t love dressing up BUT much more who doesn’t love the tricks and TREATS! This weekend I helped Lynn put together some hand crafted treats out of some gifted yogurt jars, mixed candies and cello bags. The final result is was something even Martha would envy.

Lynn is sporting part of her Jet Girl costume she found that day at Target. LOL

Lynn and I have been working to get all our product created for the launch of our site. Here is a little teaser for t-shirts we gave the final touches this weekend.

teeny tiny baby goodies.

Mary and I had been working on these baby gifts for some time… on Friday we finally gave them to the mom to be. The yarn was this awesome Cotton Tots yarn by Bernat. The yarn was super soft and we knew it would be durable since it was 100% cotton. I chose a bright color story for the yarn we both used. I crocheted the blanket because I was not ready to use circular needles to knit due to not knowing how to cast on correctly. Mary knitted 2 crazy cute hats.

mini-break weekend.

Two weeks ago Fred and I went spent a weekend at Fort Flagler, a wonderful state park camp ground outside of Port Townsend on the waters edge. It was a particularly stressful work week so the camping trip was much needed; it was truly a mini-break. We went with Kevin and Elizabeth a very skilled and prepared camping and outdoorsy couple… Fred and I… not so much. I was unable to break away from work so while I was trying to get away Fred was packing up so that we could just leave when I was done, in Fred’s haste he forgot to pack bedding, pillows and coats! K & E had spares so we were taken care of BUT it was a running joke all weekend long. They also brought along with pie iron that made 2 slices of bread and any filling into a toasted pie… E called it the “pudgy pie” maker. I spent the weekend make pie experiments over the fire.

Beautiful specimen of a mini crab, completely preserved and bleached by the sun along with some complete crab claws I found combing the beach with E. I’m going to frame the crab claws in a shadow box.

I also got a chance to sit by the beach and paint. I found a pile of crab claws on a picnic table I assume was gathered by a child. I love the colors of the claw so while they went on a hike I stayed behind and painted. It was very relaxing.
